Melpomene is a large, bright main-belt asteroid that was discovered on June 24, 1852, and named after Melpomene, the Muse of tragedy in Greek mythology.

The last New Moon in April, this year, was conjunct asteroid Melpomene.

This inspired me to recreate on a larger canvas one of my old mini painting.
